Maalaan luontoa, kaupunkia, ihmisiä, eläimiä, esineitä. Kuva syntyy havainnosta ja mielikuvituksesta, usein molemmista.

 

Atmosfääri ja valo ovat keskeisiä asioita teoksissani, aina tärkeämpiä kuin itse aihe. Työskentelen pääosin vesiväreillä, jotka vaativat oman lähestymistavan maalaamiseen. Akvarellin kanssa pitää oppia tekemään yhteistyötä, sen sijan että sitä pyrkisi hallitsemaan täysin.

 

Parhaimmillaan vesivärit ovat omaa luokaansa luomaan valoa ja tunnelmaa maalauksiin.

My medium of choice is watercolour, due to it’s characteristic qualities of transparency, which create a unique and subtle atmosphere in paintings.

​

I paint everything from animals, people, nature and the city to man-made constructs and organic and inorganic objects. The subject itself is not important because I don’t look to depict the specific, but rather to find the idea that moved me to begin with, and then to translate it into a watercolour painting.

I look for the magical in the mundane – moments in every day life that hold in them the extraordinary. I believe that you can find inspiration and beauty in the most mundane thing, when you see it in the right light, at the right moment. I believe that watercolours are best suited to express concepts and ideas, rather than realism, which makes them uniquely suitable to capture these qualities.
